Lets Get Crafty

Sorry guys, long time no post. Though on the slightly depressive side, I bet I dont even have a following. Oh well. I will get to that in a bit I guess. Currently, I have 15 minutes left of work, and well, its going to be spent writing this because I just realized that If I dont do it now, I wont be able to do it later, because you know why?

My laptop has stopped taking a charge and has been dead for oh, a week now, and since my dear job has yet to pay me, something about shredding the paperwork of returning employees and not the paper work of those being terminated. I have been working almost two months and well, no pay yet. I have a mere .29 in my checking, and 2.11 in my savings. I am striking it rich man. But onward with my computer. I cant afford to get it fixed, thankfully my mother has offered to help pay for it. Which is wonderful, I just have to have some time to go out to the Apple store to fix it. Dang.

On other news.
My boyfriend and I have gotten into that old school polariod business, you know, where they kinda accordion out and than you get to take the pictures. We have figured out how to adjust the shutter speed, and even made a pinhole out of one. Me only knowing the world of digital photography have been blown away by all this old school photography, its just amazing what you can do, when you frontier it on the photo front.

I am going into a pretty crafty stage, my boyfriends brother's girlfriend is going to do some poptab art stuff, and I have been collecting some tabs, and though, hmm.. wouldnt it be cool if I did some stuff, and not give her the pop tabs. Yeah, super cool. I am going to see what I can come up with. I have found some pretty cool sites with some neat ideas with how to do these things. I am really getting into this eco-friendly crafts. I did some of it before, but beings super-mega poor at this point I could use some extra income and they seem like this is the type of stuff to get into.

Kick n' Haw

Take that College!
Well, until I get my grades back. Think I will have my ass handed to me.
So really, FU.

I just got done with the final week of school, it was shit, really, finals never make me feel good about myself. I did find a new bike, it was hanging out by the dumpster for about a week, and than someone took it and than I found it in the street. Its pretty beat up... the tire is a little skewed, the front break doesnt work, the chain is pretty rusty, but it has fenders! a leather seat! and some pretty sweet handlebars! We named it "LaTrenda" Its now Jessicas new friend. Though Jessica will always be my main girl. I actually have three bikes, Harold, my mountain bike, which well, is one of my more expensive possessions. Jessica, who you all have already met, and now the new LaTrenda.

I don't know how many of you have gone to riding a road bike to riding a mountain bike, but its like trying to carry a watermelon!

Before leaving school, I stopped to say goodbye to all the horses at the horse rescue. After many broken promises given to us by the horse rescues owners. When we started they said that as a reward we could ride the horses, they also have their own horses on the farm. All winter we worked there, scooping poop in windchill looking foward to the ride in the spring. Once spring came, we asked if today was the day we get to go riding. She told us that none of the horses on the ranch were rideable. (mind you, She and her friends bloat on the web forum that they took out three of the rescues and had a great trail ride) Me bitter? No way.

I still love the horses there. I felt quite loved when I got a full out groom by one of my favorite horses there "Rainy" who is totally blind, and has a few trust issues.
It made most of the problems go away. I havent decided if I am going back to volunteer in the fall or not.

Oh yes, the pictures that are featured in todays post are Jessica, my love (the one with the bike rack and wrapped bars) LaTrenda, my new one. Rainy's Blind eye, and than rainy himself.

On a Howrsey note

Since we are on a horsey topic, I thought I would enlighten the blogger world to this wonderful game called Howrse.  Before I had Red, I was fairly bored with life, and wanted to have something to tie my love of horses with the love of not doing anything at all (aka sitting around and playing on the interweb)  I found the game Howrse, a game developed in france that has  to do with simulated horses. That breaks down into me being obsessed with a game that focuses around horses, life -life creatures. Not something silly and make belive like world of warcraft... or... uh, Halo. Not all games have to do with killing creatures, I know that that what it seems like the world wants us to do. Its really nice to sit back and enjoy a laid back game. So basicly in howrse, (i dont actually know how to say this word, how-rrr - se.. ho-wer-ers.. i dont know) you focus on a breed of horse, currently in my little world of howrse, I am a player named faded polka, why, I really like polka music so sue me. I  breed Newfoundland Ponies, and Purebred spanish horses. Currently I have been working on trying to get really awesome Newfies. The goal of the game is simply, like all the others, though done in a far superior fashion, but to get the best horses, make the most money, and of course, to have fun. To get "elite" horses the aim is to get these rankings called "greenstars" currently since newfoundlands are kinda a "rare" breed (mind you, theres only about 10 breeds to choose from) The arabians, hanos, and TB are the more popular breeds that have achieved  this elite status, while my mere newfies have not. I am currently working on, like stated before, breeding more advanced newfoundlands. My goal is to get some double greenstars, this goal may be unlikely, but it may actually get my name out there. Whatever works. Since newfies arnt really, uh, good in the general standpoint of howrse. I also work on geldings to earn some extra money, it works quite well. I have been playing this game for almost a year. It has lots of other cool attributes, like "passes" which buy cool little bonuses for your horses, there is also a strong sense of community and well, I can add more, but this has already turned into a mini commercial, sorry, now back to our regular scheduled program.

But first.. if it sounds like fun to you, than you should join, or atleast check it out.
I have been playing for almost a year, and still love it.

Bike. Stitch.

Howdy,
This is the first post, hurray. I have been wanting to make a blog forever. I am a college student in a Midwest school. Studying wildlife conservation. I just got my first stitches this morning which reduces my use of my fingers, which makes typing... really hard. Since i only have use of my pinky and my ring finger on my left hand. Why I decided to write my first blog with this disability, I have no idea. I guess this blog is to share my experiences with college life, which is nearly over.

I was employed most of the school year as a telemarketer, and took notes about what dumb people said. Since starting that job, I always wanted to have a place where people could see what my day was like. Why i remained a telemarketer... well, to just be reassured how dumpy people are. I later got fired because well, i stopped going. I didn't quit, so technically, I am a winner. Since quitters never win.

I guess, I should explain my title of my blog, the whole bike named jess thing. As a college student I need a bike to get around. I mean thats an extra ten minutes of sleep. Which is always good. So since I am an avid biker to begin with, I didnt want to bring my mega expensive bike to school. So we hit up the local thrift store and found this junky red bike, I pulled it off the shelf and asked my counterparts what I should name it, and my dear friend suggested Jessica. So, its a Open Road, made back by mongommery ward. There is no online database for an open road bike, so I have no idea when it was made. She is pretty dumpy. The brakes dont work, the tires are cracked. I pimped her out a few weeks ago with some handle pads, and a rack on the back. she never did have reflectors, cept on the peddles. I noticed that a car got rear ended in the parking lot so I took the car reflector parts off the ground, put some tinfoil behind it and than electrical taped the whole thing together... Tadaaa insta relectors.

Thats it for now. I still plan on getting a nice vector made of my bike for a picture... and than to post some more things later.
